The Amalga Senior Management team realises that our business is built around our people and it is their skills, abilities, motivation and inspiration that make us successful. We not only believe our people are our greatest asset, but we ensure our policies and practices reflect that belief.

All of our staff are employed directly as employees and not as temporary workers or contractors. As a result, we boast an uncommonly dedicated workforce that provides the rock solid foundation of our success.

Internally, we place an emphasis upon leadership in partnership with management. A line manager's role is to lead, not just manage day-to-day responsibilities. This results in a culture that is inspiring and rewarding for all involved.

To ensure that our people remain engaged and inspired we use the following policies:

  1. Give prospective employees a realistic job preview at the recruitment stage and undertake a finely tuned recruitment and induction process
  2. Maximise opportunities for staff to develop their skills and vary their experience through individual development plans, with regular and effective performance management measures
  3. Keep work challenging and interesting, ensuring staff skills are used to their full potential
  4. Encourage exceptional performance and initiative by recognising the value of the contribution with comprehensive and proportionate staff rewards
  5. Maintain a stimulating workplace ("can do") culture lead by section managers
  6. Provide job security by directly employing all staff and maintaining a strong balance sheet
  7. Strike a fair deal with staff with regard to their pay and benefits.
  8. Appreciate the importance of individual wellbeing by wherever possible accommodating individual preferences on working hours.
  9. Ensure staff always have a "voice" through consultative groups, including quality circles, regular appraisals, attitude surveys, grievance systems and a confidential anonymous reporting/enquiry system (EthicsPoint). This ensures employees have every opportunity to resolve any issues.
  10. Always act fairly and ethically. Never act in a reactionary or judgemental way
  11. Engender staff pride through what Amalga gives back to society, in particular successes through the Heathrow local employment and social inclusion programme
